pmdtechnologies ag, a subsidiary of ifm electronic GmbH from Essen, is a fabless IC company with headquarters in Siegen, Dresden and Ulm, as well as subsidiaries in Silicon Valley (USA), Shanghai (China) and Seoul (Korea).
pmd is the world’s leading provider of CMOS-based, digital 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) image sensor technology. The company was founded in 2002 as a spin-off from the Centre for Sensor Systems (ZESS) at the University of Siegen. Today, pmd employs more than 150 people and holds over 450 patents worldwide relating to pmd-based applications, the pmd measuring principle and its implementation.
3D sensors from pmd are used in various target markets. The markets addressed by pmd’s sensor systems and software are industrial automation, the automotive industry and a wide range of consumer applications, including augmented reality headsets, smartphones, drones and cleaning robots.
