Infineon Technologies Bipolar GmbH & Co. KG

We are the global market leader in bipolar high-performance semiconductors.

As part of two global groups with extensive expertise, Infineon Technologies Bipolar supplies the core technology for power generation worldwide,

power transmission and power control. The company was spun off from the Infineon Group in 2007 as an independent joint venture in order to focus on the future market of semiconductor technology for energy applications.

The sustainable and environmentally friendly provision of sufficient energy is one of the major challenges of our time. Saving energy has become one of the greatest energy resources and is indispensable for meeting global climate targets. Infineon Bipolar supplies key technologies for this – bipolar high-performance semiconductors and PressPack IGBTs, which are used worldwide along the entire energy chain – from the generator to the consumer in power classes from 10 kW to over 10 GW.

Applications include wind and hydroelectric power plants, long-distance energy transmission, electric drives, electrolysis for the production of green hydrogen, electrification of ships and charging systems. Under sometimes extreme operating conditions, semiconductor products often have to function for forty years or more without failure. Highly developed technologies and processes are indispensable in the manufacture of such demanding products.
