ABUS is founded by August Bremicker and some of his sons. First product is the padlock „Iron Rock“.
Opening of the production site Rehe in the Westerwald. Today, high-quality products for the Home Security and Mobile Security divisions are developed and produced there.
ABUS produces the first high shackle lock and thus „invents“ a product that achieves worldwide fame: the bicycle shackle lock.
Market launch of the first additional window lock.
The „Mobile Security“ division becomes independent.
ABUS opens ABUS Security World at the company’s headquarters in Wetter, a brand experience world with over 1,000 square meters of exhibition space and the company’s own museum.
Successive expansion of the range of smart home solutions, for example with an electronic lock for patio doors.
With the ABUS Touch, the reinterpretation of the classic padlock is introduced – for this one, neither a key nor a numerical code is needed. It opens automatically by fingerprint.
