The company „Lahme GmbH & Co. KG – Precision in Plastics“ has been manufacturing plastic injection molded articles at a high level for 60 years. After the company was founded by Karl-Heinz Lahme in 1963, the company became the market leader in the accessories market for the liquid gas industry and thus has a long tradition. With the development of the cap nuts, gas cylinder caps and tank hoods made of plastic, Lahme has been supplying tank and cylinder manufacturers, filling companies, liquid gas distributors and many others since its foundation and the subsequent patent applications until today. The company became world famous with its red plastic caps and black plastic cap nuts for propane (LPG) cylinders. Most recently, the company developed a new type of floor protection ring to protect indoor and outdoor floor space, with a universal fit for all commercially available 11 kg gas cylinders.
With the move to Kierspe in 1973, the company expanded rapidly into other areas of business for applications in the automotive, machinery, electrical and packaging industries.
Today, 120 employees work at the company’s headquarters in Kierspe and generate annual sales of around €16 million, with the main focus on the automotive supply industry. Thereby a steady growth can be recorded.
All common thermoplastics, especially engineering plastics with a high filler content, are processed on over 55 injection molding machines with clamping forces ranging from 15 to 1300 tons. In addition, hybrid components, metal/plastic composite components and lightweight components made of high-strength materials are produced. A large proportion of new molds are produced in the company’s own mold shop.
The family business is managed in the second generation by Karsten Lahme.
