Humpert is the specialist for the development and production of innovative and high-quality bicycle handlebar systems. The only large-scale manufacturer of handlebars for city and trekking bikes still represented in Europe is successfully competing with Asia’s mass producers with its innovation and quality leadership. Humpert also has the right solution for the growing pedelec market with its ergotec bicycle parts brand: high-strength, micro-alloyed, thin-walled steel tubes and high-strength aluminum handlebars are ideally suited for use here and provide the necessary strength for a significantly higher dynamic ride of e-bikes.

From the very beginning, the company’s activities have focused on the development and production of high-quality bicycle parts, especially handlebars. In the course of the company’s history, it has achieved a prominent role in the bicycle industry as a parts supplier. Today, HUMPERT produces and sells several million bicycle handlebars and stems every year, including up to 1 million from the main plant in Wickede/Ruhr alone. Around 80% of the company’s turnover comes from its role as a supplier to the bicycle industry.

However, the core competencies of tube processing and surface finishing are also used by various customers in the automotive, shopfitting and lighting industries for the production of semi-finished products and tube components with and without galvanic surface finishing.

Since 2001, Humpert has had a development and sales base in Fellbach near Stuttgart; in 2002, activities in the Far East were bundled through a subsidiary in Taiwan.

Since 2008, the bicycle components have been marketed under the „ergotec“ brand. In addition to individually adjustable steering systems with ergonomic grips, seat posts, saddles and pedals with ergonomic features are also sold. Safety is a particularly important issue here. The exclusive ergotec Safety Level System ensures that all products meet the necessary safety requirements for the various types of bicycles, depending on their different uses.

In 2022, a car dealership was taken over in the direct vicinity of the main plant. Extensive demolition and conversion work will enable the opening of the „Ergotec Experience Hub“ at the end of 2023.

The company is now managed by Ralf and Willi Humpert, the 4th generation.
