BURG Lüling GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of locking systems. Now in its fourth generation, the family-run company became famous for its padlocks: the first hand-made BURG lock was sold back in 1890. Today, BURG specialises in innovative mechanical and electronic locking system solutions, on the one hand for industrial manufacturers of metal products, office furniture, fittings and switch cabinets. On the other hand, the company develops high-quality complete solutions for office landscapes and sports facilities. BURG offers solutions with app, numerical code, RFID and energy-efficient radio technology, which enables wireless networking of locking systems.

BURG solutions for factory equipment and workplace systems are recognised worldwide. The handle shell is the best-known standard lock used for tool and material cabinets. BURG has been manufacturing these mechanical handle solutions „Made in Germany“ for decades. The range has now been expanded to include the „Qleo“ electronic handle solution, which can be operated with a numerical code, RFID transponder and app. The product series not only secures values, but also cuts a fine figure, which is underlined by the German Design Award 2024 „Excellent Product Design“.

Friedrich Wilhelm Lüling laid the foundation stone for the company. After completing his apprenticeship as a locksmith in Wetter-Volmarstein, he began manufacturing padlocks and founded his company on 1 July 1890. In the beginning, he produced with four employees in the cellar of his home – pure manual labour at the time. He delivered his first locks to his customers over 20 kilometres on foot. The company grew. In 1975, the first zinc die-casting machine was purchased. Today, manufacturing with zinc die-casting (zamak) is one of the company’s core competences. The brand is backed by a strong team: 230 employees at two locations. In addition to its headquarters in Hagen, the company also has a production facility in Tisá (Czech Republic). With the aim of always finding the perfect solution, even for individual customer requests, BURG offers development, production, assembly and service from a single source.
