power transmission and power control. The company was spun off from the Infineon Group in 2007 as an independent joint venture in order to focus on the future market of semiconductor technology for energy applications.

Infineon Bipolar supplies key technologies for this – bipolar high-performance semiconductors and PressPack IGBTs, which are used worldwide along the entire energy chain – from the generator to the consumer in power classes from 10 kW to over 10 GW.

Applications include wind and hydroelectric power plants, long-distance energy transmission, electric drives, electrolysis for the production of green hydrogen, electrification of ships and charging systems. Under sometimes extreme operating conditions, semiconductor products often have to function for forty years or more without failure. Highly developed technologies and processes are indispensable in the manufacture of such demanding products.
