Hunold + Knoop Kunststofftechnik GmbH, the world market leader in overmolded shafts for automated paper transport, is based in Mönninghausen, a district of the town of Geseke. The company specializes primarily in problem solutions for digital printing systems. Hunold + Knoop shafts are indispensable in ATMs from well-known manufacturers for reliable cash withdrawals and deposits all over the world. Shafts from Mönninghausen are also used in printers, copiers and office machines.

The decisive factor for the strong market position is the process developed by the company itself for force-fit overmolding of the metal or plastic shafts with thermoplastics, TPU-X is the name of the premium material from Hunold + Knoop for applications with particularly high material stresses. The company holds several patents for its processing. It is rubber-elastic, vibration-damped and at the same time has an extremely high resilience, i.e. it quickly returns to its original position after deformation. This means that the shafts from Mönninghausen meet the highest requirements for precision in automated cash handling. Hunold + Knoop has already received several supplier awards for this from Diebold Nixdorf, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ATMs.

Master toolmaker Josef Hunold and engineer Karl Knoop founded the company in 1977. What began in a simple barn has evolved over the years into a highly modern production company. Hunold + Knoop currently has 66 injection moulding machines and six sliding headstock automatic lathes at two locations, providing metal and plastic production from a single source – from product development to prototyping and in-house toolmaking to the finished part. The entire product range comprises around 3,800 items for the automotive, mechanical engineering and conveyor technology sectors.
