The H & T Battery Components product division of the Heitkamp and Thumann Group is the world’s leading manufacturer of metal components for portable batteries with a total of 4 locations. The battery cans and lids are used in the production of alkaline and other portable batteries.
H & T Marsberg GmbH & Co. KG supplies the European market for alkaline batteries from Marsberg-Bredelar and is the clear market leader here. More than 3 billion battery cans leave the Marsberg plant every year.
Its customers include well-known battery manufacturers such as Duracell, Varta, Tadiran and the Saft Group.
Alkaline manganese batteries are among the most important electrochemical energy storage devices in everyday life. The battery cans concealed behind the labeled foil are manufactured from nickel-plated sheet steel in several stations on transfer presses and formed into a cylindrical hollow shape. H & T Marsberg can draw on the extensive expertise of the Heitkamp & Thumann Group in various areas of metal processing.
This also results in a leading technological position. As early as 1999, battery cans with a graphite inner coating were developed, which led to an increase in battery performance of around 15%. The tools and systems required for cup production have been developed and manufactured by H & T Tool Design GmbH & Co KG, also based in Marsberg, since 1999.
H & T Marsberg emerged from the takeover of Gemi Metallwarenfabrik by the Heitkamp and Thumann Group in 1978. In addition to H & T Marsberg and H & T Tool Design, the world market leader for aerosol cans, H & T Presspart, belongs to the group of sister companies in Marsberg-Bredelar, as well as H&T Recharge, a fast growing supplier of deep drawn cylindrical battery cans for rechargeable
The Heitkamp & Thumann Group has set itself ambitious goals in order to integrate ecological and social responsibility into its core business. It has developed a sustainability strategy that focuses on four areas of action: Circular economy, responsible procurement, greenhouse gas emissions and health and occupational safety.
